Goal setting has been an American pastime for a long time. Putting your goals on paper makes them become alive. When writing your goals be sure to start with ones you can accomplish. Don’t get in over your head and end up feeling frustrated.
As an author I have to have daily goals for marketing. I try to keep them simple and easy to follow. Many goals will get you out of your comfort zone, so beef yourself up with confidence when approaching these goals.
Here is a typical daily list for me: 1. Make ten comments on appropriate blogs a day 2. Write one new article 3. Add information and welcome new people on my social/business sites 4. Make at least five calls (generally to radio stations) 5. Network with others on line, and offer help to as many as I can 6. Update my blog (twice a week)
For future goals, I am always searching for new methods and ideas to market and promote my book. As I have a very small budget I try to spend my few dollars on the most advantageous marketing venues.
I also have other goals that I write down. For example: 1. clean out the refrigerator 2. call two friends 3. no snacking between meals 4. Exercise and do weights
These are not just things to do for a list, but I stay centered and focused.
I write a list monthly of my most precious goals 1. Sell a lot of books 2. Arrange for at least one speaking engagement 3. Keep my weight the same 4. Eat healthy almost everyday (once in a while a splurge is good)
This gives you an idea of very simple goals…They will change each month as your life and ideas change. I look at my piece of paper everyday and I am so happy when everything has been accomplished.
