Article marketing is a form of advertising which has become widespread and popular among internet businesses. Companies have formed with the sole business of providing unique articles and articles with unique content for websites to use as part of their promotion. Article marketing has also resulted in article directories with long lists of free articles that may be used on websites both to provide useful content to visitors and to encourage traffic to a site. Other sites provide their own articles and prefer to control their exact content.
The use of specific key words is important in article marketing. When you use certain words, a web crawler program will find them and lead searchers to the site with those terms on it. The more hits you can gain by using SEO targeting, the more visits to the site containing your article.
Some go so far as to use misspelled words or awkward phrases to make a page both more unique and to attract searchers who may be searching using words not correctly spelled. This can generate traffic, but some visitors may be turned off by ungrammatical and incorrectly spelled copy and assume the product is equally shoddy.
To earn money from article marketing, you must link to websites in order to bring web traffic to your page. Those brought to the website by these links will then buy products and services advertised on the page, or will click on advertisements on the articles' pages. Money can be earned by selling these articles, often by crafting articles designed to specific needs.
Article quality matters, but some web page managers want traffic so much that they lose sight of the fact that visits are worthless if ads are not visited and products are not purchased. Good, interesting articles keep visitors at the page longer and encourage return visits. Such articles also show your business is worth buying from. High quality articles may be costly but they are worthwhile.
Those with writing skills can of course create their own copy, but many people prefer ghost written articles commissioned from professional writers. Some recruit individuals and others utilize online sites where articles may be solicited and purchased. These are then placed in directories and sites but will be credited to the purchaser, not the actual author.
