A peninsula is a piece of land that is nearly surrounded by water but connected to mainland via an isthmus. A peninsula can also be a headland, cape, island promontory, bill, point, or spit.[1] The Balkans is a peninsula including the Republic of Macedonia, Greece ,Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Serbia, Albania, and Montenegro. Encompassing continental Spain and Portugal, Andorra and the British overseas territory of Gibraltar.
